Tesla has issued a recall notice for a subset of Powerwall 2 home battery units in Australia. Expert Electrical Tasmania (a subsidiary of Expert Energy Tasmania Pty Ltd) is an installer of these systems, and the recall itself is run by Tesla. This page explains, in plain terms, what the official ACCC and Clean Energy Council information says and what Tasmanian battery owners should do. Last reviewed 2 September 2026.

Not every Powerwall 2 is affected

Only a subset of Powerwall 2 units is covered by the notice: those built with certain third-party battery cells. The ACCC notice discusses units sold between 1 November 2020 and 23 August 2025, but even within that window not every unit is affected. Powerwall 3 is not part of this recall.
