Why Choose Solar

Integrating solar energy in your business is great, not just for the environment and your bank, but for your business too. Using solar energy commercially can halve your electricity bill and save you thousands throughout the year. It saves the environment too as it’s a sustainable and renewable energy that doesn’t release carbon emissions. For a business though, integrating solar energy shows your business is committed to helping the environment and using an environmentally friendly energy source.

Solar For Businesses

Commercial solar systems can be very beneficial especially if you are working between sunrise to sunset as your solar panels are working through the day too. The scope between solar in residential settings and commercial settings is quite different. Residential settings usually have a smaller available roof space, and they generate less power, unlike commercial solar which is typically able to have much larger systems from 10kW to 1mW.

The Australian government offers incentives to business owners looking to install solar systems commercially. Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), small businesses across Australia that install small-scale renewable energy systems may be able to receive a benefit to help with the purchase cost.

We offer both engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) or construction only services for businesses. We have years of experience in commercial solar so rest assured, we can keep your business running as we have with Dan Murphy’s in Newtown, Mt Rumney Escapes holiday shacks, Onetrack in Brighton, and Woolworths in Smithton.

Return on investment calculations can be made quickly and accurately by us. Each business has their own energy requirements and each business has vastly different installation footprints. Our calculations will take these factors, and more, into account and design a bespoke solar system to meet your business needs.

Commercial Grid-Connect, Off-Grid, and Hybrid Systems

Grid-Connected

A grid-connected solar system will allow your business use the best access to both energy inputs from the grid and the system itself. Any excess energy produced from the solar system can be sold back into the grid for further returns on your energy investment. Depending on the business location you can sell back more than the typical daily maximum 10 kW per phase. If you combine a grid-connected system with a battery bank you can have black out protection and use the energy produced at other times to help further reduce energy costs.

Off-Grid

If you need power in a remote location, or want to be off-grid, an off-grid system would achieve this. The cost of bringing services and power to remote locations can be hugely expense and often far more expensive than a complete off-grid system installation. Along with batteries and generators, you can power various business properties: farms, cabins, shacks, sheds, and warehouses to name a few. An off-grid system can make your business energy indepentent and the integrated back up equipment can keep your business running smoothly.

Hybrid

A hybrid siolar system will give you best of both grid-connect and off-grid systems. Hybrid systems offer the flexibility of storing power generated during the day instead of feeding it back into the grid. They can be fully programed to provide an optimised combination of all the energy sources – grid, solar and battery. This reduces the power consumption from the grid to lower utility spending and allows for optimal usage of solar power at peak usage times. The hybird nature of the system can also provide uninterruptible power.

Our Premium Equipment

Tindo Solar Panels

Our Tindo panel of choice is the huge newly developed Karra 405W G2H panel. These panels are Australian made for Australians for Australian conditions. They have a 25 year product warranty and a 25 year performance warranty of 85%, which is well above the typical market offering.

PowerPlus Energy Batteries

We supply their Australian made pre-wired cabinets, modular batteries and the no fuss Amphenol connectors save time and hassle for 1 or 3 phase inverters. Being scalable you can have 1 to 100 (and beyond) batteries linked in parallel, and for larger jobs you can run parallel cabinets too. The PowerPlus Energy batteries come with a 10 year performance warranty of 60-80% (product depending) and a 10 year product warranty.

SMA Inverters

Our SMA partnership allows us to offer Tasmanians their German made Sunny Boy inverters. SMA inverters are among the best available, complete with battery integration, and with one of the best monitoring portals via an app on your phone or tablet. SMA inverters come with an exclusive product warranty of 10 years with an upgrade of a further 5-15 years (product depending) that can be purchased anytime during the warranty period.

Kubota Generators

Partnering with another great Tasmanian company we can offer access to their excellent and extensive stock. We are able to fully integrate their generators into your bespoke Off-Grid Solar System so that you do not have to worry about low generation or depleted storage again. We use the ever reliable and powerful Kubota 5.5kVA/8.0kVA.

Our Designer Equipment

Phono Solar Panels

Our exclusive Southern Tasmanian partnership enables us to offer you access to their Diamond Dual Glass Module. Featuring toughened glass on both sides, these panels also offer bifacial technology – meaning they can capture light from the rear of the panel as well as the front. While bifacial features may not be particularly useful on a residential roof top, the toughened glass certainly is – especially in relaton to hail resistance. These panels have a 25 year product warranty and a 30 year performance warranty of 84.95%, which is one of the highest available.

PowerPlus Energy Batteries

We supply and install the modular BYD Battery-Boxes that are compatible with 1 and 3 phase inverters. The BYD Battery-Boxes provide scalable and reliable energy storage which is one of the most efficient for and cost effective energy storage solutions. The BYD Battery-Boxes come with a 10 year performance warranty of 60% and a 10 year product warranty.

FAQs

How can commercial solar power benefit my business?

Solar power provides a host of benefits to your business. The most significant benefits are of course the savings on your electricity bill and lessening your contribution to greenhouse gasses. Added benefits come from receiving ‘Green Accreditation’, so consumers can make informed decisions when choosing your company

What is the ROI like for commercial solar systems?

As an estimate, commercial solar systems should pay for themselves in savings within four to six years after installation. How much of a return you receive from your solar system depends on a number of factors. Factors that impact your ROI are: your energy usage, your electricity rates, and how much you paid for your commercial solar system.

What maintenance does a solar system need?

Scheduled maintenance can be arranged with your installation team, but isn’t always necessary. All users need to do with their commercial solar system is monitor the output and ensure the system is working as it should.

How much roof space do I need for a solar system?

Panel sizes can vary but are typically sized at one metre wide by 1.7 metres high in commercial applications. During installation, two metres per row is usually required, a bit extra may be required if the panels are mounted on a flat roof. Allowing one metre per panel is a good rule of thumb for initial estimates.

Are solar systems a one size fits all application?

No, solar systems differ from house to house and from business to business. Factors to consider when designing and installing a commercial solar system are: the business’ energy usage, what kind of battery storage will be appropriate, and how much roof space is available.
